Activities & Social Life

Studies have shown that being active helps seniors not just to feel better and live happier lives; it can also improve or slow symptoms of depression, dementia, and even Alzheimer’s.

What’s the Right Activity Program for You?

Everyone starts from a different place and has their own activity needs and likes. In LRM senior residences, we provide a wide variety of activity options designed by experts and tailored to the strengths, wants, and needs of our residents.

Monthly Activity Calendar

Each month we publish a calendar of activities which is given to all residents. Our full-time Social Director keeps residents involved with activity options including movies, games, crafts, exercise programs, community activities and religious services. Fun and interesting off-site excursions are also offered to add enjoyment and stimulation to our residents’ lives.

Our Mission

Groupe LRM residences are designed to allow seniors to live in comfort, safety, and independence. With a thoroughly trained staff, and a selection of accommodation types, our goal is to provide an ideal setting for seniors to live and thrive.

LRM Residences Activities

Movie Nights

Movies are something anyone can enjoy and our regular movie nights are very popular with our residents. We play both today’s most popular current movies as well as classic favorites.

Zootherapy

Most residents love it when the animals come to visit! Research has even shown that animal visits reduce anxiety and blood pressure and promote a better response to medical treatment.

Board Games

Board Games are an activity that most seniors know well and enjoy. Checkers, Backgammon, Dominoes, Snakes & Ladders, a wide variety of card games and many more games are available from our activity coordinators. Board games are also effective as part of a social and mental activity program.

Physical Activities

Physical activity is beneficial for everyone – and important at every age. We provide activities of all levels, from simply walking through the hallways, grounds or gardens, to fun games like the sandbag toss, easy chair exercises, water fitness, or for those able, more challenging physical activity.

Creativity Expression

LRM senior residence facilities offer comfortable and spacious apartments and care units. Large and attractive common areas and well-equipped activity rooms make residents feel comfortable and provide opportunities for engaging with others at meals, in quiet lounge areas, during many activities or in the gardens and grounds outside.

Intellectual Activities

Just as physical activity is important for the body, clinical research shows that mental activities help keep the mind strong and can stave off dementia and other effects of aging. Games, puzzles, and other activities, give our residents the opportunity to have fun while stimulating their minds.

Even for seniors with cognitive challenges, games like hangman and simple memory games are effective and enjoyable. Quiz games, structured conversations, adapted games like UNO, cards, board games, and puzzles, are all incorporated into our activity programs and may be used in a structured and therapeutic manner.

Special Social Events

Regular social events are always optional – but most seniors love the chance to get together for a purpose.

  • Bingo: a favorite of many.
  • Shop Vendors: clothing, cosmetic and health boutiques periodically visit our senior residences.
  • Live Shows: we invite singers, music groups, magicians, pianists
  • Birthday Celebrations: monthly birthday get-togethers celebrate our residents who are born in that month.
  • Affiliation with local daycares: we host activities with children (for example, creating cards for Father’s day).
  • Gardening: most of our communities have gardening activities. These are designed for all seniors including residents facing cognitive challenges.
